Republic Day Function


     The Nation's 61st Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm at SCSVMV University on 26th January 2010 at the University grounds. The programme commenced at 8.30 A.M with unfurling of the national tricolour by the Vice Chancellor Prof.V.Shivkumar, who also reviewed the Republic Day Parade by students of the first year. Prof. V. Shivkumar gave the presidential address and spoke about India's ascent as a great power during these 60 years and also remarked that this was a momentous occasion, drawing a parallel with the traditional Sashtiabdhapoorti celebrated for those reaching 61 years of age. This was followed by some passionate speeches by students in various languages including Saskrit, Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu. Patriotic songs were rendered by the students as part of the cultural programme.
