Introduction
Sri Chandrasekharednra Saraswathi
Viswa Mahavidyalaya – SCSVMV University (herein after referred to as
SCSVMV) , Kanchipuram, formed under the aegis of Sri Kanchi Kamakotti Peetam
Charitable Trust, has been in existence since 1993 as Deemed University under
section 3 of UGC Act, 1956. It is located in a sprawling complex of 50 acres at
Enathur, at a distance of about 4 kilometres from Kanchipuram. The university
is offering value based higher education to students across the country in the
faculties of Sanskrit and Indian Culture, Management Studies, Computer
Applications, Engineering, Ayurveda and Medicine. The placement record for
management and engineering students ha s been quite impressive over the last
three years. Several VIPs have graced the university through their visits over
the years. The university has a unique focus on synergetic development through
integrating traditional wisdom with modern knowledge and scientific practices
with a global outlook. The university is now planning to cater to the
educational needs of the aspiring sections of the working community through work
integrated learning programs and expand the scope of management education and
research.
Great Lakes Institute of
Management (hereinafter referred to as Greak Lakes), a not for profit
organization, is a premier management school established in Chennai in the year
2003. It has an academic alliance with the well known Stuart Graduate School of
Business of the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA,. Great Lakes
also partners with Yale University to promote advanced research in management
and the Yale -Great Lakes Center for Management Research has consequently been
established in Chennai. Great Lakes has also entered into and MoU with Nayang
Technological University, Singapore to promote faculty and students exchange
programmes. Its Business Advisory Council has leading business persons and
industrialists including Mr. Ratan Tata, Mr. Narayana Murthy, Mr. Kumaramangalam
Birla, Mr. Ramadorai, Mr. Anil Nayak and many other luminaries.
Preamble
Whereas the undersigned
representatives of SCSVMV and Great Lakes hereby express their desire to promote
and develop cooperation and synergy in management education and research through
:
1.Joint Programs involving faculty and students
2.Sharing of academic and Infrastructure
Resources wherever feasible,
3.Organizing Joint Events and Programmes,
and
4.Promotion of Scholarly Activities.
This agreement is entered
into as of
Feb ‘ 09 (
the effective date) and between the parties hereto as aforesaid, as per the
following terms and conditions.
I.
Academic Matters
Specific activities under this
agreement shall include:
1. To
conduct jointly courses through innovative and collaborative well designed
curriculum in tune with market dynamics of the award of post graduate diploma or
degree in Business Management (viz., Executive MBA) and short term certificate
courses.
2. Joint
hosting of lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences nationally and
internationally to promote academic and professional excellence.
3. Promote
collaborative research and related innovative activities between SCSVMV and
Great Lakes, through the Yale Great Lakes Center of Management Research, Kotler
– Srinivasan Centre for Research in Marketing and other such appropriate
entities on either side.
4. Any
other Scholarly activities that will be mutually beneficial to the two
institutions.
II.
Duration and Termination
This agreement
effective from the date specified here, shall be in force for a period of three
years. Thereafter, it could be continued in the same or any mutually agreed upon
modified form, subject to annual review. Both the parties have the
responsibility to fulfill their commitments to the last admitted students for a
period up to which they complete their program. Subject to this, either party
may terminate this agreement upon 90 days prior written notice to the other.
III. Financial
Any and all financial
matters pursuant to this Agreement shall be negotiated separately of an
activity, project, or programme basis that would be mutually agreed upon.
IV. Co –
ordination
Operationally, this Agreement will be coordinated by a committee consisting of
representatives drawn from both sides under the overall guidance of a the
following two signatories of the agreement.
The Vice- Chancellor, Sri
Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya (SCSVMV University),
Kanchipuram.

The Founder and Honorary Dean, Great
Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai.
V. Jurisdiction
This agreement shall come under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts
in Chennai only.
